About the Photographer,

J. Miles Wolf, a 52 year old father of three, is an accomplished photographic artist and experienced architectural photographer. He has published 5 books and 25 lithographs of his regional photographs of  Cincinnati, Ohio and the Tall Stacks river boats. Wolf has photographs in numerous corporate and museum collections. Miles has a passion for photographing architecture; he appreciates the beauty, design and function of the buildings he photographs.

Miles Wolf approaches Architectural assignments with a drive and energy that is truly amazing to see. Once he starts on a new project, his enthusiasm and excitement drive him to a higher level, his assistances and clients have a difficult time keeping up with him.  His attention to detail and his desire to achieve a natural look to his lighting help Miles consistently achieve results of a high professional level.

J. Miles Wolf has been photographing architecture for more than 28 years. His photographs have appeared in numerous publications. Publications include Architectural Record, Architecture, Inland Architect, Home, National Geographic Books, Popular Photography, Cincinnati Magazine, Ohio Magazine, Design Magazine and numerous local publications.

His photographs of Plum Street Temple are in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. Some of the temple photographs have also appeared in calendars and magazines for the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Wolf’s photographs of Frank Gehry’s Vontz Center at the University of Cincinnati have appeared in publications in France, Brazil and the Netherlands.  The Vontz Center photographs also appeared in Architectural Record.

Miles Wolf’s photographs of Cesar Pelli’s Aronoff Center of Performing Arts in Cincinnati, and the Schuster Center in Dayton Ohio were published in Architecture magazine.  They also were used in Cesar Pelli’s Monograph Books.
 
Wolf’s photograph “Delta Queen Homecoming” won first place for the State of Ohio in the "Day in the Life of America "photo contest. The winning photo was published in Popular Photography.

Wolf is well versed in both large format and digital capture technologies. His eye for detail and his experience in capturing thousands of interior and exterior photographs help produce professional results for his clients.  Miles Wolf uses both strobe and tungsten lighting to achieve a dramatic yet natural look to his interiors.  His exteriors are known for dramatic angles, great light, interesting skies and dramatic twilight photographs.

Twilight photographs of glowing well lit buildings are a trademark of Miles Wolf’s photography.  Miles uses dozens of lights to balance the interior and exterior lighting to capture a unique look that really show off the projects in a unique light. Miles has won the light up Cincinnati photo contest an unprecedented 10 years; this competitive competition gives Miles a chance to test his skills among other professional photographers.
